Krista teaches a variety of classes, see descriptions below and the link to the timetable.

HATHA FLOW

Classes generally start with a short relaxation; bringing awareness to the body and to the breath to help calm the mind and prepare for the practice.  We will then begin to gently warm up the body with some simple movements which are synchronised with the natural rhythm of the breath.  The practice builds progressively as we move into a more dynamic flowing practice where poses (asanas) are interlinked with the breath and emphasis is placed on developing greater awareness of body, breath and healthy alignment; this flowing practice helps to develop strength, flexibility and focus. Each pose may be held for one or several breaths with deeper and longer stretches being included towards the end of the class. Each class finishes with a relaxation (savasana) or short seated meditation so the benefits of the practice can be absorbed.
Modifications and props are offered to make the classes accessible to all.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

In a restorative yoga practice poses are held for longer and supported by props (bolsters, blankets and blocks) to allow the body to fully release and let go. Some gentle stretches, movement and breathing techniques are also utilised to further bring the body and mind into a place of deep relaxation and balance the nervous system. Sessions generally finish with the practice of yoga nidra – literally meaning yogic sleep, it is a practice of conscious sleeping.
